Compose Messages
You can send messages to faculty, administrators, providers, provider groups, and patients (if patients have PatientAccess accounts).
Note: You can include only one patient recipient per message.
- Click the
icon to open a draft message.
- Click the To field, and complete one of the following:

Enter a recipient name, and from the drop-down list of recipient matches, select a recipient name.
- Select the
icon to search for a recipient.
The To recipient search page appears and displays three tabs: User, Patient, and Group.
- The User tab allows you to search by name, provider group, or ID.
- The Patient tab allows you to search byname or chart #.
- The Group tab allows you to search by group code or description.
Note: If none of your patients have an account, the Patient tab is inactive.
- In one of the tabs, enter a recipient in the search field, and then select the Enter key (or Go or Return depending on your device).
- From the drop-down list of recipient matches, select a recipient.
- (Optional) Repeat Step 2 to add another recipient.
- (Optional) Repeat Step 2 to complete the Cc and Bcc fields.
- In the Subject field, enter a subject.
Note: The Subject field is limited to 50 characters.
- In the body of the message, enter your message.
Note: The body is limited to 32000 characters.

(Optional) If the message is urgent, set the urgent message indicator to Yes
. - Click Send.
A confirmation message appears briefly.
- From the Messages page, select Compose.
- Select the Recipients button to display the Recipients pop-up.
Tip: Alternatively, you can select the To or Cc fields.
- Determine if you must add a Patient, axiUm user, or group:
- If you must add a patient, from the Search by drop-down list, select Patient.
- f you must add a user, select a name from the Recent Users list.
- If you must add a group,
- (Optional) If the patient, axiUm user, or group does not display in the left pane:
- From the drop-down list, select First Name, Last Name, or Chart.
- Select the Criteria field, and enter the search criteria.
- Select Search.
- Select To or Cc, depending on how you want the recipient to receive the message.
Recipients who meet the criteria display in green text.
Note: Patients cannot be entered in the Bcc field.
- From the Search by Patient, Search by User, or Search by Group list, select the recipient’s name.
- If you select the Name title or the Chart # title, you can switch sort by ascending or descending PAtient or user name order or by numerical chart numbers .
- If you select the Code header or the Name header, you can switch between ascending or descending group order.
Depending who the recipients are, the Search by Patient, Search by User, or Search by Group list appears.
Tips:
- Select Add to add the name to the Recipients list.
The recipient's name appears in green text in the right pane. In the left pane, patient names are gray to indicate that they cannot be selected.
Tip: To remove a patient from the Recipients list, select the name, and select the Remove button.
- Select the Done button.
- In the Subject field, enter the subject of the message.

- In the Message field, enter your message.

- (Optional) If the message is urgent, select the High Priority check box.
- Select the Send button.
